The Postdoc Academy: Succeeding as a Postdoc
The online course, “The Postdoc Academy: Succeeding as a Postdoc” begins on October 19, 2020. This flexible 6-week course helps postdocs create a rewarding experience that will launch them into their chosen career path. Virtual Writing Retreats – November 4th & November 17th – Registration Open!
Join the UF Postdoc Writing Program virtual writing retreats to meet your end-of-the-year writing goals in a supportive community of peers. Sign-up for the retreat sessions that best fit your schedule,. Each session consists of a 20 minute group check-in at the beginning of the session, 3 hours of writing, and a20 minute group check-in at the end of the session. Once you have registered, you will receive zoom links for group check-ins, as well as guidance for making the most of your writing time.
Check-in’s are for the purpose of setting writing goals, leveraging peer accountability, and sharing strategies for overcoming resistance to writing.

An Introduction to Writing Reproducible Manuscripts Using RMarkdown
RMarkdown is a versatile document format that can combine text, R code, figures, and tables together in a single document, and create formatted output as PDFs, MS Word files, slides, websites, and more. This workshop will provide a basic introduction to using RMarkdown, how to insert code, tables, figures, and format references, and an overview of the possible output formats.
This workshop is open to everyone; NO previous experience with programming in R is required.
NIH Public Access Compliance
This workshop provides an introduction to the NIH Public Access Policy and demonstrates how to fulfill compliance requirements. We will cover how to use the NIH Manuscript Submission System and discuss the various approaches of journal publishers towards compliance.

Quality postdoctoral mentorship key to career success.
The UF Postdoc Mentor Matching Program has been developed to provide structured assistance to postdoctoral trainees that seek to expand their network of mentors in order to facilitate career success.
After registering as a mentee, you will be paired with an appropriate mentor based on your registration survey responses. Mentors will be recruited from the UF Faculty and local industry partners. Each mentee-mentor pair will be asked to meet 4-6 times throughout the year to discuss mentee career objectives. Quarterly reminders will be sent to participants.
Postdoc Writing Place Schedule

UF Postdoc Writing Places are open to all UF Postdocs. Writing Place sessions will provide a communal space with coffee and light snacks for writing alongside your peers. These sessions will not include instruction, but are for the purpose of creating a time and space where you can prioritize your writing over your other responsibilities to help you meet your writing goals.
New Resource! The Postdoc Academy – Online Professional Development Training Resources
The Postdoc Academy is a digital professional development program designed specifically for postdocs. Its first, free online course, titled “Succeeding as a Postdoc“, was released on Jan. 13. The Academy will run for five weeks.
